Ben Peterson: The War of the Roses
September 10 - October 10, 2004
Ratio 3, 903 Guerrero, San Francisco, CA 94110

Opening reception: September 10, 2004, 6-8pm.

Ratio 3 is pleased to present Ben Peterson: The War of the Roses, on view from September 10 to October 10, 2004.

Ben Peterson will show new large-scale ink and graphite drawings of domestic disturbances. In Peterson's work, neighborly competition takes the form of overgrown gardens, shared dirt, and obsessive stockpiling. Homes are balanced precariously atop shifting foundations that crumble under the mounting weight. By revealing the accumulation of layers within both the natural and fabricated worlds, Peterson examines the absurd lengths to which we go to keep up appearances of normality and order.

Ben Peterson has had solo shows at Allston Skirt Gallery, Boston (2003), and 667 Shotwell, San Francisco (2003). His work was included in Majority Whip , White Box, New York City (2004), and Phantom Arch , White Columns, New York City (2003). He will be in the forthcoming COLOR WHEEL OBLIVION , Marella Arte Contemporanea, Milan, Italy (2004). Peterson's work was recently acquired by the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York City. This is his first solo exhibition with Ratio 3.
